The legend of Jyotirlinga According to the Siva Mahapurana, once the Hindu trinity had an argument over supremacy of creation! To settle the debate, Supreme God Shiva pierced the three worlds and a huge infinite pillar of light appeared. The light was solidified into the form of a Shiva Linga and the worship of Linga is considered to be the prime worship of Lord Shiva; Worship of all other forms is considered secondary.
